“When patients come to me, they give me their diagnosis. I tell them, please leave your diagnosis behind… I don’t treat 'diagnosis'….. I treat health”
---Dr. David Kearney
How and Why does Acupuncture work?
We can tell you how Dr. Kearney approaches it.
We all recognize the world of opposites, the dark and light; hot & cold, up and down; male and female, Yin and Yang. When there is an imbalance in a human being, one gets sick. Yang is masculine, an active, outgoing fiery awakened state. Yin represents the watery, intuitive, passive stillness which allows the incoming life force to be received. We can see that our world is charged with too much Yang energy which has become destructive. Dr. Kearney’s pursuits and experiences have brought us simple techniques (in an easy-to- read book entitled, "Just Chaaa”) which we can implement to enhance and improve our posture, biomechanics, immunity and quality of life. This is an aspect of what Energy Medicine embraces. He calls this bringing in the Yin. It’s learning how to listen to our own body’s voice. We can do them anywhere, anytime….at our own pace….through Breathing and Self-Touch. And more important, our body has been healing us since we were babies. We just never noticed.
** chaaa (chah ) – 1. the process of releasing your body tension without thought interference. 2. slang – Just chill man!
SO……How does Acupuncture work?
There is an energy that is known as “Chi”, that moves all systems within the body, assisting in the production of endorphins, serotonin as well as releasing antibodies, estrogen, cortisone and digestive enzymes. It is a vital force essential to life. As an example, our body’s activity can be compared to rivers. When they get jammed, nothing moves downstream or upstream, things get stagnant and smelly, they get toxic and get sick! Sound familiar? When needles are inserted into the body, it’s like placing them into the “belly” of the blockage. The body sees the needle as an intruder and attempts to push it out by stimulating the nerve, blood, lymph and micro-electric circuitry, thereby, tricking the body into renewing circulation to the constricted areas and gets the Chi “back in the flow”…. back to its original genetic template, supporting the body’s overall vitality, energy and health.
The Main Objectives of Acupuncture are to:
• Relieve Pain
• Strengthen Immune System
• Balance, harmonize and integrate our entire physiology.
Dr. Kearney compliments the Acupuncture experience with massage, physical adjustments, Chinese herbs, vitamins and minerals. He has had much success with rehabilitating patients after severe spinal cord trauma, assisting with childbirth and improving the quality of life for cancer patients.
